ABOVE AND BEYOND — “Home of Rolls Royce” Collection Debuts

Given the craftsmanship that already goes into each car, you’d think that Rolls-Royce would have a hard time topping itself, the new Home of Rolls Royce bespoke collection takes it above and beyond.

On January 1 of this year, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars celebrated 10 years of production at the Home of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood, England. To mark this latest chapter in the marque’s 109-year history, the very first vehicle of a special collection of Ghost and Phantom family models, conceived and designed by the Rolls-Royce Bespoke team, was unveiled at  Quail, A Motorsports Gathering on August 16.

The first car in the new collection was a Phantom Series II saloon, is distinguished by a ‘celebration’ motif, presented in hand-crafted marquetry on the front-fascia.  A craftsperson painstakingly assembles the 170 sections of laser-cut woods while the pattern is also intricately embroidered into the armrests and console lid with 112,533 stitches applied by precision embroidery machines.

Additional touches include map co-ordinates engraved into tread plates, the bezel of the Spirit of Ecstasy and umbrella handles, as well as a hand-painted coachline that is the final act in a 22-step painting process.
