One came from a privileged background. The other was working at the ripe old age of nine. One broke the world land speed record (at 83 mph). The other studied algebra and engineering at night. One set up one of the first car dealerships in Britain to fund his racing habit. The other developed a 10hp petrol vehicle. It’s Rolls and Royce. A fortuitous meeting between the two would change the auto world forever.

A mutual acquaintance boasted to Rolls about his Royce 10hp, and the two men met on May 4, 1904, at the Midland Hotel in Manchester. The rest, as they say, is history. Both Rolls and Royce were incredibly driven and dedicated to creating the perfect vehicle. To building the best car in the world.

115 years later, Rolls-Royce is all but synonymous with excellence, with innovation, with luxury. To this day, the marque honors its heritage. While continual advancement is integral in the brand’s growth, it never forgets the roots and values of its founders.

From Horse Drawn Carriages to Exceptional Horsepower

Rolls drove Royce’s vehicle and pledged then and there to sell every car Royce could build. They built 10 cars their first year. 114 years later, they crafted 4107 to customers in 50 countries.

The first Rolls-Royce vehicles were influenced by horse-drawn carriages – they were even built by the same coachbuilders who crafted these carriages by hand. They applied their skills to new technology, and a legend was well and truly born.

To meet demand, Rolls-Royce uses a common platform for all of its new models – the Architect of Luxury. It is an aluminum space frame that can be accommodated to meet different applications while delivering world class quality and the Magic Carpet Ride.

The Rolls-Royce brand has never stopped in its pursuit of creating the best car in the world. And their jaw-dropping models attest to this. Just as certainly, though, they will never stop improving on perfection. The legacy of Rolls and Royce is one of continual commitment to pushing the envelope in terms of performance, style, and quality.
