Rolls-Royce Spectre: The Future

Rolls-Royce Spectre

Like all automakers, Rolls is also going electric, and its first all-electric car will be the Rolls-Royce Spectre, coming in 2023. Like all Rolls-Royce vehicles, the Spectre will be an eye-opener. Rolls Royce says that by 2030 its entire lineup will be electrified. The company has been telling the world about its plan to go electric for many years and now it is bringing the drawing board to reality. In 2011, the company did reveal an EV concept based on the Phantom at the Geneva auto show, but has been quiet since then.

Now back to the Rolls-Royce Spectre. The two-door coupe will be the start of a new line of electric cars for Rolls Royce. It will have the same design and architecture as past Rolls-Royce vehicles, with a touch of added class both inside and outside.

While many details about the Rolls-Royce electric Spectre remain a secret, the company has begun releasing tiny bits of information to excite and entice.  First, the Rolls-Royce Spectre will be available at the end of 2023. The few images reveal a coupe with rear-hinged doors. The company has reported that the prototype will undergo road testing in 2022 and cover 1.5 million miles before the final launch

It is also known that the Rolls-Royce electric Spectre will have a modular architecture of a luxury aluminum platform that already exists in the Ghost, Cullinan, and the Phantom. Some believe that the Spectre may be a successor to the Wraith, which is a two-door pillarless coupe with iconic suicide doors – but only time will tell.

No information regarding the powertrain has been released, but the company has said that the Rolls-Royce electric Spectre will offer the same level of performance as the existing V12-powered gas models. Rolls Royce also claims that the Spectre can go from 0-60mph in 4.3 seconds, which is impressive for a heavy car carrying a large 71.0 kWh battery pack. It is anticipated that on a single charge the Spectre will have a modest range of 120-odd miles, but then again, the car was never meant for long-distance driving. Preliminary claims have been made that despite the large battery, the Rolls-Royce Spectre will offer a quiet and clean drive without any vibrations.

While the exact price tag for the Rolls-Royce electric Spectre has not been set, experts say that the base price likely will be around $400K, and by the time all the customer preference details are added, the price will probably be higher.
