Rolls-Royce SUV: First Look

May 14, 2015

Rolls-Royce SUVThe SUV market has boomed, and after a lot of luxury car dealers hammered out their final plans for delivering various SUV models to customers, one thing remained – Rolls-Royce. For a long time, people have been asking them – when will they make an SUV? Will they make an SUV? Is that something Rolls-Royce would ever even consider? And Rolls-Royce has toyed with the idea for some time, but given who they are and what they do, they’ve taken their time in finalizing any ideas.

But it appears the time has finally come for some beginning looks at the Rolls-Royce SUV concept. It is going by the name of Project Cullinan, and right now much of it is hidden beneath the general outline of a Rolls-Royce Phantom. It’s important not to make any final judgements whatsoever on the Rolls-Royce SUV when looking at the initial car images. This is because Rolls-Royce has made it perfectly clear that this is in no way the final outline – or anything remotely close to it.

Right now they’re still toying with ideas, getting the basics on how they want it to look, how it will handle weight, how it should be shaped, and so forth. If it’s going to be an SUV, then it still has to maintain that Rolls-Royce design, class, and luxury. A tricky balance when most SUVs – even the luxury types – are about being powerful, handling at least some off-the-beaten-path driving, and, in general, doing things that you don’t often see or think of a Rolls-Royce doing.

Whatever they intend, it isn’t going into production until 2017 at the least. This leaves you to simply check out current Rolls-Royce cars at the Braman Rolls-Royce dealership in Palm Beach, FL, part of the Braman Motorcars family, and indulge your desire for luxury that way. Keep an eye out for the future Rolls-Royce SUV to be sure, but until then, why not settle into a Phantom?
