The Eighth Generation Phantom first made its debut in 2017, and it’s served Rolls Royce well. This year, the company introduces the Rolls-Royce Phantom Series II. To meet customer requests, the latest version of the vehicle includes a number of aesthetic upgrades. Thanks to those changes, it remains the pinnacle of the Rolls-Royce line, reflecting the best craftsmanship and engineering in the world

A Closer Look at the New Features

Rolls Royce has made some minor tweaks to the exterior by revising the grille. It added an accent across the top as well as a new lighting system. A shadow chrome pack, however, is an option for those who like to keep everything a bit darker. Tiny bezels that look like stars surround the headlights, too.

Maybe one of the most talked-about features, though, is the new wheel patterns. One pattern echoes back to the brand’s past in the Roaring ‘20s while the other offers 3D-milled triangle shapes.

This series will be available exclusively as a V12 twin-turbocharged 6.75-liter engine combined with 8-speed automatic transmission. The company chose not to make any changes to the powertrain given that it already generates 563 hp. The engine itself, though, is linked to a GPS receiver that analyzes the car’s location and speed to optimize gear and shift changes.

Several new features make the Phantom Series ll a commanding presence which include a  delicate polished horizontal line running between the daytime running lights just above the Pantheon grille. The Roll Royce Badge of Honor and Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament has been made more prominent through subtle changes to the architecture of the vehicle.

Rolls Royce is offering a wide range of personalization features for the interior including various fabric surfaces such as real wood or 3D printed ceramic accents.

The interior of the Phantom ll is fully bespoke and sumptuous; in addition, it has a 3D camera view and a state-of-art iDrive infotainment system. The one distinct change is that the steering wheel is slightly thicker than the previous models.

With the Phantom, you will remain connected because of its Whispers Smartphone app which will allow you to send messages to a restaurant, an event, your dealership, or even to Rolls Royce headquarters. The Rolls Royce app also displays the car’s location, current health status, and security status.

While the gasoline-powered Phantom Series ll will reign supreme for some time, Rolls Royce does intend to produce an electric phantom before 2030. It will utilize the same aluminum frame platform found in all recent models.

The Phantom Series II will go on sale later this year, and while pricing is not yet known, expect it to cost similar to the current model’s starting price of $500,000.
