Rolls-Royce luxury begins and ends in the details. It starts with design and engineering, which marries supercar performance to luxe experience. It concludes with the finishing, hand-crafted, bespoke touches that make each motorcar unique. From Rolls-Royce paint to coach-lining, these finishing touches craft for you not just a luxury supercar, but a piece of art that stands the test of time.

Pinstripe Wizard

Mark Court has one job, and it’s an important one. He paints the pinstripe, or the coach-line, that runs down the side of every Rolls-Royce. A single car takes three hours. The brushes are unique, made from ox and squirrel hair. The requests range from that simple pinstripe to complex, custom artwork. To learn the art of pinstriping took Mark five years.

He used to paint high quality village signs for pubs and other businesses. When Rolls-Royce opened its Goodwood location, he applied for the job. Today, he’s flown all over the world to apply his skill, from nearby places like Germany to exotic locations like Dubai.

Hand Crafted Artistry

Like the Surface Finishing Centre and so many other steps that layer Rolls-Royce luxury atop luxury, hand-crafting is one of the primary elements that makes each vehicle such a super work of art.

Rolls-Royce paint isn’t a matter of some machine spraying a chassis down. No, each one is hand-painted before it makes its way to Mark. Paints are mixed to create colors unique to each owner, not by computer but by the eye of master artists.

A Rolls-Royce’s mirror-like finish is the result of hours and hours of hand-polishing. In fact, today Mark’s son Ashley is an apprentice at the Rolls-Royce Bespoke Collective in Goodwood. He’s become one of these hand polishers, as well as apprenticing under Mark in the art of coach-lining. He hopes to one day take over Mark’s role.

Works of Art

Every step from design to finishing polish focuses on each Rolls-Royce being more than a vehicle. It’s a work of art that you get to own, to display and flourish. A work of art deserves master artists and craftspeople to create it, and that’s just what Rolls-Royce does.
