Electric Rolls-Royce Phantom

December 19, 2020

The electric Rolls-Royce Phantom is coming, and rumor has it that its arrival could be as early as 2022.  Rolls-Royce has been looking into an electric model since 2011 and has been monitoring interest shown by its customers.  Regulatory requirements are also pushing the luxury automaker toward a Rolls-Royce electric car, so steps are having to be taken to bring the electric Rolls-Royce Phantom into reality.

REPLACEMENT FOR WRAITH/DAWN?

Some reports are alleging that an electric Rolls-Royce Phantom could be a replacement for the Wraith coupe or Dawn convertible.  While all reports indicate that consumer demand may not be at an all-time high currently for electric vehicles, the future may make it impossible not to consider an electric car.

PHANTOM PLATFORM

In another show of intended change to electric cars, the latest Phantom entertained an aluminum space-frame platform with obvious implications of an electric powertrain in mind.  Other similar vehicles also sporting this same platform could be outfitted with electricity use in mind.

LUNAZ TAKES ON ELECTRIC SETUPS

The British firm Lunaz has been rebuilding Rolls-Royce classic models and trading out their original engines for electric powertrains.  The company’s first take is on a 1961 Rolls-Royce Phantom.  A lot of work is involved in this maneuver as it requires stripping the original version of the car to the bare bones and building it back basically from the ground up.  This is not an inexpensive venture but consider what you’re getting.  Lunaz is upcycling some of the most beautiful cars in the world to further the vision of a low carbon future by taking what already exists and enabling it to run electrically.

Changes in battery charge and usage have changed over time and grown to a better standard whereby electric cars are more a thing of here and now, instead of only existing in some future time.  Get on board and don’t miss the electric powertrain.
