Cullinan Goes Black

Black Badge Cullinan

What is Black Badge? Rolls-Royce explains that it is “for those who reject conformity and live on their own terms. It’s for the innovators, trailblazers, rule-breakers – and above all – those who dare.” The iconic Wraith, Ghost, and Dawn have received the Black Badge treatment, and now the legendary brand’s SUV is poised to join this exclusive club. Welcome the 2020 Rolls-Royce Cullinan Black Badge.

According to Rolls-Royce, the Black Badge Cullinan is the “darkest and most urban statement of Black Badge yet.” That’s quite a testament. Aesthetic drama is a hallmark of the Black Badge family, but the transformation is more than skin-deep. It is built upon the foundation of the “Architecture of Luxury,” a proprietary aluminum architecture and sub-structure that boasts exceptional body stiffness but flexibility and agility.

The Black Badge Cullinan is powered by a massive 6.75 liter twin turbocharged V12 boosts both horsepower and torque to 600 hp and 664 lb-ft, an increase of 29 and 37 respectively over the standard (thought eminently impressive version). An aggressive ZF eight speed automatic transmission has been re-tuned for this edition, the air suspension has been adjusted to keep pace, and the brakes have been updated for top performance.

Let’s go back to the appearance though: it is, after all, a major part of the Black Badge Cullinan’s appeal. While any option is possible, most owners opt for the line’s signature Black. To achieve a rich, deep, intense hue, Rolls-Royce applies and hand polishes the finish 10 times. This only makes your choice of contrasting Coachline all the more striking.

The Double R badge on the front, flanks, and aft invert are silver-on-black, and the chrome surfaces on the front grille surround, side frame finishers, boot handled and trim, lower air inlet finisher, and exhaust pipes have been darkened. All new 22-inch forged alloy wheels, exclusive for the Black Badge Cullinan, emphasize the sense of dynamic, agile movement.

The Cullinan’s edgy twin also features a Spirit of Ecstasy in high gloss black chrome, a finish which extends to the mounting plate – a first for the brand. It is the blackest Black Badge yet.

The 2020 Rolls-Royce Cullinan Black Badge is now available to order.
